SHELBYVILLE’S NANCY SMITH IS 2018 INDIANA REALTOR® OF THE YEAR
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) — Nancy Smith of Carpenter REALTORS® in Shelbyville is the 2018 Indiana REALTOR® of the Year.
This annual award is the Indiana Association of REALTORS® (IAR) highest honor and recognizes one member for excellent service to their clients, community, and fellow REALTORS®. An IAR committee of Smith’s peers selected her as this year’s winner out of 21 nominees from local REALTOR® associations across Indiana.
“Nancy is tireless in her pursuit to make things better and get things done,” said Cheryl Stuckwish, IAR Recognition Committee Chairperson. “Nancy cares deeply for her clients and her beloved Shelby County. She’s a staunch advocate for homeownership and private property rights. And she’s a great mentor to so many in our industry.”
Nancy is past president and director of both her local REALTOR® association, the MIBOR REALTOR® Association (MIBOR), and IAR. She’s served as a member or chairperson of several committees at both associations including those on by-laws, economic development, finance, foreclosure, listing service, personnel, policy, and property tax. Additionally, Nancy is past director of MIBOR’s philanthropic foundation and led the association’s leadership academy. Nancy is currently a trustee of IAR’s political action committee.
Nancy is past director of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and currently serves as a member of the NAR Multiple Listing Issues and Policies Committee. She’s also the REALTOR® contact for Congressman Luke Messer.
In her community, Nancy is or has been involved with the Blue River Community Foundation, Major Hospital Foundation, 100 Women Strong, Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, Shelby County Development Corporation, Shelby County Players, and Shelby County Youth Center.
Nancy is married to Mark, has four children, eight grandchildren, and is a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville.
