All Indiana-licensed real estate Brokers must complete 12 hours of continuing education (CE) each year of the same 3-year license renewal cycle. The exceptions are for Managing Brokers and Brokers newly licensed since July 1, 2014. See below.
Current License Renewal Cycle:
July 1, 2020 — June 30, 2023
CE
The following really does apply to everyone—Brokers, Managing Brokers, and Brokers newly licensed since July 1, 2014 alike: You do not need to submit your CE or course certificates of completion to the Indiana Real Estate Commission or Indiana Professional Licensing Agency each year or at license renewal time. Just save those certificates in case of audit.
Brokers: Are you on track to complete 36 hours of state-approved CE before renewing your license? That’s 12 hours each year of this 3-year license renewal cycle. No? The IAR-owned Real Estate Certification Program, or RECP, can help: 1-800-742-4067 or info@recp.org
Managing Brokers: Please remember that 4 of the 12 hours of CE you complete each year must be state-approved Managing Broker curriculum.
Brokers newly licensed since July 1, 2014: You must complete a state-approved 30-hour Broker post-licensing course within 2 years of your license issue date. This course is required and satisfies your initial CE requirement during the first 2 years of licensure.
May we recommend? RECP offers the Broker post-licensing course online/OnDemand. We know how busy you’ll be getting your business off the ground, so we offer this course in a format that allows you to fit it in when convenient!
